My work is made from sheets of translucent, opalescent, iridescent and dichroic glass that is hand cut and layered to create a design and fused flat in a kiln.  Each piece has at least 2 layers, but some as many as 8 layers. Gold and silver leaf or mica may be incorporated in the layers. It is then cooled and re fired or slumped into a clay or refractory fiber shape. Some pieces are fired multiple times to create a desired effect. It is all one of a kind tableware, lead free and food safe. I personally make every piece from beginning to end and do not work with any assistants, apprentices or employees.

I received a degree in ceramics and airbrushed on clay for over 20 years when I decided to focus on a new direction in glass. The materials and processes of clay and glass are similar and complimentary and I often feel as if I am working with ceramic glazes in “frozen sheets”.

I am passionate about excellence in design and try to convey that in my glasswork. My work is influenced by texture and pattern from many sources including Art Deco, textiles, masonry, and geometric design. I appreciate the translucent quality of glass but enjoy working with rich saturated colors the most. I believe good design can be magical and elusive, and that a great piece of artwork, be it mine or someone else’s, is something that you are drawn back to time and again and never tire of.

Many people collect glass and put it on display in their homes. I purposely make functional and affordable pieces that I encourage people to also use, enjoy and incorporate into their daily lives.
